This week we were very lucky to have Miss McDonald visit our classroom. Miss McDonald is a student teacher from AUT and she spent the week with us. She will be coming again next term for three weeks. Miss McDonald read us a really neat story and then we retold the story and drew pictures to match. You can see our podcast below. We also got to bring our favourite toy into school. We talked about our favourite toys, wrote stories and then used SOLO to help us think about the similarities and differences between two toys.
On Thursday afternoon we did a paper toy swap around with all the junior classes. We made a paper fan in our class, a paper plane with Mrs Buckley in Room 2 and a paper bird with Mrs Keeley in Room 15.
On Friday we played a new version of I spy. We had to spy something that looked like a shape in the classroom. Once we understood how the game worked we had a lot of fun. We also went on a walk around the school looking for objects that formed a shape we recognised. We were so excited abut finding shapes in our environment, we kept spying them all day long!

Hi Room 3
ReplyDeleteI can spy a circle... a square... and some children working very hard!
Hi Room 3
ReplyDeleteYou have clearly had a lot of fun learning about toys. I would love you to show me how you used SOLO to think about similarities and differences when I next come into your room.
